Dear Diary,
Today I slept at 2-3am because my brother and
I had to catch the train to Manchester for two reasons:
1) My cousin’s engagement party! 6pm
2) Manchester United vs. Sunderland match! Finished
5pm!
The problem was, was that we only had 1
hour from the moment the final whistle blew at Old Trafford to get back to the
hotel, get ready and arrive at my cousin’s party on time!
3:00am: Before heading to Manchester I took
a shower and styled my hair for the engagement because I knew that I wouldn’t have
time to do it after the match lol.
11:00am:
We arrived at our hotel in Manchester. I called my cousin, more like my
best friend (R) to see where his room was and it turned out that he was just
down the hall! We looked like such freshies waving from opposite sides of the
corridor lol!
Manchester Airport from our hotel room |
The plan for the day was that we watch the
match at Old Trafford, rush back to the hotel, get ready in 30minutes and leave
for the party.
11:00-12:00pm: I made sure my dress, abaya
and scarf were all ironed and ready to be worn in the 30 minutes I had.
12:00pm: My brother and I made our way to
Old Trafford!!
I love being in Manchester, I spent all my
childhood here so coming back after 12 years is just amazing!!
12:30pm: We arrived at Old Trafford quite
early, so we spent about an hour walking around the united shop and reading the
captions off the black and white pictures around Old Trafford.
THE parking lot ! |
13:30: We stood at THE parking lot waiting
for the united couch to arrive. Once it did and the doors opened I saw Louis
van Gaal step out along with Ryan Giggs, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Memphis Depay,
Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and many more!
I took a video of it!! I’ve posted it at the
bottom for you to watch!
After the players from both teams went inside, the gates to the stadium opened and so we made our way to our gate!

In all my experiences at stadiums, my favorite
part of all is when I take that last step and the whole stadium is in front of
me. I always look down when climbing up the stairs and on the last step I
raise my head and omg the atmosphere is just mind blowing!
Our seats were at the Stratford End it’s
where all the crazy supporters are, It’s where all the songs at the stadium
start, and It’s where NO ONE SITS! No I’m serious no one sits at the Stratford
End, I wish I knew why lol! So we stood in front of our seats though out the
whole match, surprisingly it wasn’t that bad because the atmosphere just takes
your mind off the pain lol!
View from where I was standing <3 |
4:50pm: We left the stadium and jogged to
the nearest street so that we could catch a cab... BUT to our surprise the
roads were all blocked and by the time we got to the right street the game was
already over and the streets were packed with Manunited shirts! (Now 5:20pm)
5:30pm: We found a cab! Oh how nervous I
was sitting there checking my phone every minute 5:35pm… 5:40pm… 5:41pm.
5:45: We arrived at our hotel and we jumped
out and ran straight to the lift! As we were standing in the lift I grinned and
said, “I’ll be ready in 10mins.” My brother laughed, I knew he wouldn't believe me because "I'll be ready" meant that
I’d take a quick body shower, put my dress on, fix my hair (wearing a scarf
doesn’t really give that volume effect lol) AND do my make up!!
5:55: I was actually ready!!! Until this
very moment I still don’t know how on earth I did it! How did I get ready for
an ENGAGEMENT PARTY in 10mins! Who does that? Lol
Everything from then on went very smoothly!
We were a few minutes early and the funny thing was was that so many ladies
asked me who had done my make up! You could only imagine their faces when I
told them about my 10 minute mission.
Anyway, I’m so tired I can barely keep my
eyes open it’s been such a long day but it’s memories like these I’ll be
replaying in my head over and over again <3
Sweet Dreams.
