5 Things To Do On These 10 Blessed Days Of Dhul al-Hijjah.

Friday, September 18, 2015

Fasting in the month of Ramadan isn’t a surprise to anyone. Fasting the first ten days of the last month of the Islamic month (Dhul al-Hijjah) however, could be new to many.

We are brought into this world for a purpose, a test. We are brought into this world to prove where we deserve to be once we take our last breath. All this is merely a test, it’s not an easy one as we unconsciously act upon the whispers of our enemy.

God wishes to reward us and have mercy on us. He knows that we all commit sins otherwise he would have created us as angels and not humans. Therefore, he gives us chances throughout the year for us to ask for his forgiveness and further strengthen our love for him.

These first 10 days of the last month of the Islamic Calendar is one of those chances God has given us. In these 10 days the rewards of good deeds we act upon are amplified. Therefore, Muslims take advantage of these days.

5 things to do on these 10 blessed days of Dul al-Hijjah!

The Messenger of Allah (p.b.u.h) said, “There are no days more loved to Allah for you to worship Him therein than the ten days of Dhul al-Hijja.”

1)   Fasting: The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said: “Anyone who fasts for one day for Allah’s pleasure, Allah will keep his face away from the (Hell) fire for (a distance covered by a journey of) seventy years.” (Bukhari, Muslim)

2)   Pray at night: Allah Almighty calls out to His servants in the latter part of the night: “Is there anyone to invoke Me, so that I may respond to his invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me, so that I may grant him his request? Is there anyone seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him?” (Bukhaari, Muslim)

3)   Dhkir and Tasbih : The Prophet  (p.b.u.h) said: “There are no days on which good deeds are greater or more beloved to Allah than on these ten days, so recite much Tahleel (saying Laa ilaaha ill-Allah), Takbeer (saying Allahu Akbar) and Tahmeed (saying Alhamdu Lillaah).” (Ahmad -Saheeh)

4)   Repent and Thank Allah : Allah (s.w.t) says, “But as for him who repented, believed and did righteous deeds, then he will be among those who are successful.” [Al-Qasas 28:67]

5)   Read the Holy Quran: Just like how you buy a certain product and find a manual that comes with it. Us too, have our own manual. God created us and gave us a manual called the Quran:
to help us live with ease,
to help us understand more of the world and why we are created.
to teach us what is right and wrong from stories of the past.

This list can go on and on of the knowledge that is contained within the pages of the Holy Book. Take this opportunity to increase your faith, for it will bring you so much happiness into your life.

I hope this helps you for the next 6 days, as today marks the 4th day of Dhul al-Hijjah 1436
